Abstract

The objective of this research was to acknowledge the professionalism of the librarian in the movie The Library by Nattawuut Poonpiriya (2013). This research was a qualitative research that used semiotic approach and used analysis theories by Charles Sanders Pierce known as triangle meaning, sign, object, and interpretant. In order to proof the data the researcher used the data of the interview result from five chosen informants. The analysis was aimed to describe the professionalism of the librarian in the movie. The result of the research stated that the triangle meaning theory of professionalism was showed in Anne character as the librarian. The conclusions of the six aspects were the flexible service of the librarian, friendly manner and not making face to the visitors, so that the communications with the users was clear. That proved with the feedback between the librarian and the users in the communication. The librarian was very independent in searching the references needed by the users without the interference of others. The dedication of a librarian towards the profession that was sincerely guiding in searching information was able to give the informative knowledge and explanation to the other librarian and the users themselves.
