Abstract
Neutrality of a media is one of the main functions that must be fulfilled in order to gain public trust. However along with the diversity of the media nowadays, many of them override the main functions. Media usually make a news just to get a high rating so that news it’s not a fact but just a sensation, or media just blow up one issue and hiding another fact. This research is titled “Propaganda in the Online Media” aims to determine is there any white propaganda in the news of Donald Trump on BBCIndonesia.com periods of March - May 2016. The research method used is quantitative content analysis. The data obtained by observation and documentation during that time period. The research results showed that the calculation of x2 (chi square) has a value of 17,05, it’s higher than critical value of x2 9,48 (at significance level of 5%). So, it can be concluded that hypothesis Ho (There isn’t white propaganda in the news of Donald Trump on the media online BBCIndonesia.com periods March - May 2016) rejected and Ha (There is white propaganda in the news of Donald Trump on the media online BBCIndonesia.com periods March - May 2016) accepted. It means that there is white propaganda in the news of Donald Trump on the media online BBCIndonesia.com. It realized with three propaganda techniques (Name Calling, Testimony, Card Stacking) and five units of analysis (Textual, Visual, Statement, News Title, News Content). Those five units of analysis have adequate reliability figures with the lowest value stands at 0,7857 and the highest value reached 0,9523. Keyword : Donald Trump, BBCIndonesia.com, Propaganda
