Abstract

This research discusses the instructional communication functions performed by the senior in KAPALA AMPTA organization in maintaining personal safety for members. This research used descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques are interviews and documentation, and use sources triangulation. The theory used is communication, communication functions, instructional and sense of personal safety. The research of this study is on the board of the organization KAPALA AMPTA. The results of this study found that communication functions instructional has done in keeping away the members of KAPALA divided into multiple analysis, a message instructional safety related ascent, and knowledge associated with climbing, process of delivering a message instructional be adjusted to the safety factors that influence them: impairment of consciousness / psychosocial members, members' health, safety knowledge possessed by members. Communication is done by people who are experts and experience in climbing and safety. Materials used are diktat books, and related movies. Assisted by tools for climbing and safety, with a discussion of teaching techniques, and application of the material in a supportive environment for the provision of instructional messages. From the results of these studies found that the communication functions instructional has done to keep the personal safety of the members of the KAPALA AMPTA during the process of climbing the mountain.
