Abstract

The importance of communication is not only lied on personal communication but also on the level of organizational communication. There is a certain pattern of organizational communication network in the way of organizational communication. HMI is an Association of Muslim students formed on February 5th 1947 in Yogyakarta. HMI as a student organization covers all Muslim students in Indonesia in order to achieve their goals, such as shaping academic students, the creator, the servant of Islam, and is responsible for the creation of a just and prosperous society which is blessed by Allah SWT. Regarding that, this study formulates question of how does the role of HMI Yogyakarta’s communication network achieve their goals? This study aims at analyzing how the role of HMI Yogyakarta’s organizational communication networks in achieving their goals is. This study applies qualitative descriptive method aiming at explaining the position of the variables which are analyzed and the relationship between them. The data collection techniques used are interview, observation and documentation.The theory used is the theory of the role of organizational communication network proposed by Pace. The results of the study indicates that the role of the organization's communication network has an important role in achieving the goals of HMI. The role of such communication network organization in achieving the goals is a communication system that is made by the committee of the association has more space to communicate the goals of the organization which functions to deepen the knowledge about HMI’s goals.
