Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of community radio (rakom) Radekka FM in empowering the society at Desa Semoyo, Gunungkidul. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative method. In collecting the data, the researcher applied interview and documentations. This study uses Miles and Huberman data analysis and to enhance the trustworthiness of the data, researcher uses source triangulations. This study is crucial to find how the programs of community radio can be an empowerment acts, so that the people in the community can be insightful and disempowerment can be avoided. The result of the research shows that the programs of the community radio (rakom) provide empowerment acst for the people in the community. When the community receives and supports for the messages given by the community radio, disempowerment which happens in the community will be decreasing.
