Abstract

Potatoes production in Batur District was quite large and it was in the first position among four other district which producing potatoes in Banjaregara Regency. Large financial capital in this business often made the farmers didn’t optimal in using production factors, in the other hand the fluctuations of potatoes’ prices can also threaten the farmers. Efficiency is one of the factors that determine the level of productivity. This study attempted to analyze the factors that affect the production and efficiency level of the use production factors to the potatoes farming in Kecamatan Batur Banjarnegara Regency. The data obtained from the primary data with the respondents were 98 farmers. The used sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data type was cross section data and the used analysis tool was production functions of stochastic frontier with Frontier 4.1 and Microsoft Excel program. Variables in the farming business which significantly influence were the variables of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and labor. While the unsignificant variable in potato farming was the land area variable. The value of technical efficiency was 0,83 or 83%, it indicated that the use of production factors was not technically efficient. The value of price efficiency or allocative was 1.4021 it means that the price efficiency or allocative was not achieved. The value of economic efficiency was 1,1609 it shown that economic efficiency was not achieved. Potato farming business in Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency is quite profitable and feasible to be developed, it was shown by the R / C ratio was 1,68. To increase the efficiency, the farmers should be able to use combinations of production input factors proportionally.
