Abstract

The objective of this research was to know what efforts are done in the Library of State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in improving the User service. This research was a qualitative descriptive. Data validity test used triangulation and member check. The triangulation techniques ware done using interview, observation, and documentation. All of the data analysis used Miles and Huberman model. The activities in the data analysis ware data reducing, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The result of this research was known what efforts are done in the Library of State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in improving the user service were provided the best service (to help returning when the long queue, and user education), managed the emotions librarian psychology and maintained the working atmosphere, published library activities, Improve labor management (improved the librarian skills and part time), improve facilities according to the development of information technology (be able to check the loan by online, supply a real time monitor, make an application for tandon service and serial service,), and improve library management (repackage the reference service, rolling, meeting, extend service hours, and fast shelving). The researcher's recommendation were library should add facilities and infrastructure such as the addition of the number of air conditioners and outlets, library should add promotions and publications about the new collection of libraries in the form of print or electronic, library should improve the accuracy of opac data, library should pay more attention to the order of the collection, and librarians should be more friendly when interacting with pemustaka
