Abstract

The high dropout rate in Indonesia has led to awareness of a number of parties to help school-aged children get better access to education. One of the nongovernmental institutions focused on education is Hoshizora Foundation. Through the Kakak Bintang program, Hoshizora Foundation seeks to help provide scholarships to Adik Bintang or younger siblings, as well as providing regular assistance and motivation to support their learning spirit. This research tries to see how communication strategy run by Hoshizora Foundation in Kakak Bintang program. Data were collected through interviews, direct field observations, document studies and literature review. The researcher uses the communication strategy approach formulated by Arifin with research analysis unit in the form of audience selection, message compilation, message delivery method, media usage and communicator selection. Based on the results of research, the city of Jakarta serve as the main target area in the program Kakak Bintang. The group of people who made the object is a person who already has income financially. The message Hoshizora composed of focus contains educational themes. The existence of media has an important role for Hoshizora. Printed media products and online media are regularly organized and regular updates. The method of delivery of messages used is repetion and packaged in informative, educative and persuasive. Hoshizora seeks to maintain and improve their branding in the public eye as a professional institution, not because of personal success in it. Thus, it is expected that everyone in Hoshizora can become a communicator of the Hoshizora program, especially the Bintang Kakak program. Keywords: Communication Strategy, Foundation Program
