Abstract

Islam obligate woman to wear hijab as daily, it aims to protect woman of physiology and sociology threats. But, the fact show that many women ignored it. This condition also can be seen in UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The female University student who know this obligatory, but at their daily activity they ignored it, it means that dissonance happened inside them. Based on that background, this research aims to explain how female students who didn’t wear hijab in their daily activities decrease cognitive dissonance by using interpersonal communication: openness, emphaty, supportiveness, positiveness, and equality. This research applied descriptive qualitative. Meanwhile, data finding for this research use interview, observation, and literature review. The result of this research is there are efforts of the female student who didn’t wear hijab in their daily to decrease cognitive dissonance. Discomfort and worries were caused by cognitive dissonance will push student to take a changes by asking and finding information, because primarly each person wants a consistency inside them.
