Abstract

The study on the analysis of framing pornography chat was interesting because this issue is sexy as well as controversial. It becomes sexy because this case involves the High Priest of the Islamic Defenders Front, Rizieq Shihab, and becomes controversial because he is a priest who always guides the amar makruf nahi mungkar and also a public figure in Indonesia. Instead of Rizieq Shihab solving his problems with law, he instead brought his family to Arab Saudi. In this research, the researcher was curious how Kompas.com and Republika.co.id announces the issue. So, this research is classified into qualitative research. According to Robert N.Entman, it applies the framing analysis method. There were some unit of analysis used in the research. The data was obtained by defining the problems, diagnosing the cause, making the moral judgement, and having treatment recommendation. The result of the study shows that Kompas.com and Republika.co.id tend to framing the issue through the framework of the law. Through the framing model, Kompas.com conveyed to the public that this case was a criminl law like the other cases by avoiding the political elements, the morality, and the criminalization of priest. Meanwhile, Republika.co.id tended to framing the issue by referring to the political elements behind the criminal law that ensnares Rizieq Shihab. Republika.co.id wanted to deliver to the public that law case ensnaring Rizieq Shihab wass politics of revenge. So, it can be conclude that the actor was not Rizieq Shihab.
