Abstract

The research was aimed to determine: 1) the efectivity of physics problem based learning on critical thinking skills, 2) the efectivity of physics problem based learning on students interest, and 3) the result of students who achive in KKM. This research is quasi experiment research.The variables that used in this research are problem-based learning as independent variable and critical thinking and interest of students as dependent variable. The saturated sampling is used for sampling technique because the subject of this research involved all students of class X MIPA SMA NU 1 Kradenan which class X MIPA 1 became experiment class and class X MIPA became control class. The critical thinking data of students is obtained by pretest-posttest questionnaire in essay form and students interest data by questionnaire. The data of critical thinking was analized by descriptive statistic. For students interest data was analized by average score of each indicators and the result of student who achieve in KKM was analized by looking at the posttest value of students. The results of research showed that (1) problem-based learning is effective on the critical thinking ability of students (Experiment class have average 50,68 and N-Gain = 0,3184 (medium) and control class have average 37,82 and NGain = 0,14347 (low)), (2) problem-based learning is effective on the students interest (the average 2.77 in experiment class and 2.63 in control class), and (3) problem-based learning is not effective in achieving 75% of students who pass the KKM.
