Abstract

The background of this research is reading is one of the activities that are often done at the time of learning took place, but the reality seen by the researchers reading level in primary school is still low. Therefore, literacy activities including reading need to be familiarized to children from an early age. MIN I Yogyakarta as one of the best madrasah familiarize children reading with the movement of literasi. So this research is done to know (1) kinds of literasi, (2) strategy applied, (3) impact of applying of literasi movement in class V MIN I Yogyakarta. This research was conducted by using the type of qualitative approach descriptive research type. This research was conducted at MIN I Yogyakarta in the even semester of academic year 2017/2018 (December 2017-February 2018). Data were collected through observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis is done through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: (1) the types of literacy contained in class V MIN I Yogyakarta, among others, basic literacy, scientific literacy, library literacy, and technology literacy. (2) a strategy applied by reading 15 minutes before learning begins, a reading corner in each class with students bringing books from home to school so that students can read whenever and wherever the literacy movements are integrated with the curriculum (curriculum 2013) write down the essence of reading or make a synopsis, discussion and presentation, the procurement of library materials. (3) the impact caused by the literacy movement such as the students showed the penchant of writing, the increasing number of visits to the library, the creation of a literate environment with the habit of reading, easing the burden of teachers in training students' ability to obtain information with high curiosity so that students have extensive knowledge and insight.
