Abstract

Learners who have the ability of science literacy is a person who has science science to apply in conducting proof, ask and answer questions, draw conclusions, and communicate. Science literacy is an important activity students must have, which literacy can be associated with understanding the environment, health, and other issues facing modern society. Based on observations, not all science literacy appears and is owned by every student. Therefore researchers need to conduct research to observe the extent of achievement of science literacy owned by students. This research is descriptive qualitative research with data collection method that is triangulation data. Data collection using interview instruments, observation, and documentation. Informants in this study are class III students, classroom teachers, and extracurricular science counselors in SD Muhammadiyah Purbayan Yogyakarta. The results of this study answer the 3 formulation of problems that researchers adopt. First: Implementation of the beautiful theme of the theme of friendship, including, planning activities, implementation activities, and assessment activities used. Planning activities are organized into RPPs with indicator components, learning objectives, methods, science literacy activities, and assessments. Teacher implementation activities using group learning approaches, discussion methods and frequently asked questions, media books and media images, monitoring group discussion activities. Student implementation activities are students mention the name of the unit of time, ask the time unit, and experimenting the making of flowerpots and pet care. Assessment activities are done by pinning the stars to the group and assigning students. Second: The relationship of learning beautifully friendship with student science literacy seen in experimenting activities, and concluded, while questioning and answering questions, and communicating has not been fully implemented. Third: the design of a new theme that suits the scientific literacy skills required is the theme of "the danger of smoke for health". Literations measured in the design of new themes are communicating, interpreting images, formulating problems, hypothesizing, experimenting, asking, or answering questions and concluding.
