Abstract

The background of this research is the emergence of extra campus organizations which have a thought contradicting to Pancasila as the state ideology and democratic system, according to the researcher, threatening the integrity of NKRI. On the other side, there are many news on the various media which raises the confusion between Islamic missions which become the spirit of Islamic students and the practices of cadres in field such as quarrel among Islamic students, destruction to campus, or the public facilities. The curriculum of cadre recruitment is the most important thing to be analyzed more, considering to analysis it will be seen the direction of student movement running, the background and the spirit of organizations. Therefore it is important to be analyzed especially the roles of Islamic student organizations in forming student characters (Study on the curriculum of PMII, HMI, IMM, KAMMI, and LDK cadre recruitment in UIN Sunan Kalijaga). The selection of organizations around UIN Sunan Kalijaga is chosen because of its location in Yogyakarta, where becomes a place for the establishment of student organizations and UIN Sunan Kalijaga itself has a massive organization climate. This research aims to describe the role of islamic student organization of extra campus in the forming of student characters by using a qualitative approach with the subject of research (informant) consisting of Sofiullah, Abdul Karim, Khairunnisa, Ainun Najib, Prayoga Fahmi Pangestu, Hikmawan Hudzaifah Firdausi, Mirza Arfiandhika Yusuf, Khaidar Bahitaki, Muhammad Rizki and Muhammad Abdullah Akhyar. The metodes of data collection used are interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses Milles Huberman model with data reduction technique, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of research show that: Firstly, the cadre curriculum of Islamic student organizations in UIN Sunan Kalijaga “PMII, HMI, IMM, KAMMI, and LDK”. Actually it is same generally, only has a bit of uniqueness. Secondly, the implementation of cadre curriculum is generally same as the method which has MOT/Instructor/Guide as a tool of cadre whose duty guides the learning process in class, the presenter must be taken especially from the alumni of organization, a place where is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city, the facilities of room and class which are adequate and conducive to study and the method of study which consists of lecturing, question and answer, and dialogue method, then ended by forum group /small group discussion. Thirdly, the role of curriculum gives different characters of each organization: PMII 10, HMI 10, HMI MPO 6, IMM 7, KAMMI8and LDK 9 characters.
