Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem that modernization and moral degradation that occur in the people environment also in the educational environment. And commonly the education curriculum in Indonesia is still trapped in the dichotomy of science between religion and general science.This condition raises several solutions that develop in the society. The Boarding school education system is one way to minimize these problems. Education with a dormitory system provides an influence that stimulates students to be smart from its spiritual, emotional and intellectual. This study aims to describe the boarding education system in MAN Insan Cendekia Pekalongan, to analyze the application of the boarding education system in MAN Insan Cendekia Pekalongan, and to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of the boarding education system in MAN Insan Cendekia Pekalongan. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The data collection methods that used are interviews, observation, and documentation.The data analysis that used is the Lexy J. Moleong concept by analyzing all data, reducing data, compiling data in one unit, categorizing, and triangulating. The results showed that, first, the boarding education system in MAN Insan Cendekia Pekalongan consisted of residential education characteristic, boarding and student education goals, advantages in boarding education systems and problems that occur in the boarding education system. Second, the application of the boarding education system in MAN Insan Cendekia Pekalongan is to maximize three domains of intelligence. The first is the spiritual intelligence field, the second, emotional intelligence and the third is intellectual intelligence with activities carried out in MAN Insan Cendekia and with habituation that is done repeatedly so as to get the maximum response from students. MAN Insan Cendekia hopes that their students will superior in science and technology and IMTAQ (Faith and Taqwa) with the activities that have been carried out. Third, the supporting and inhibiting factors of the boarding education system in MAN Insan Cendekia Pekalongan, and the supporting factors include the school that located in the city so that it is easy to get information, the location of schools and dormitories in one complex, MAN Insan Cendekia which is managed directlyby the Ministry of Religion and a democratic environment.While the inhibiting factors are include heterogeneous students, higher education costs, insufficient human resources, inadequate learning support facilities for students and students who enter at the school by their parents’ encouragement.
