Abstract

This thesis discusses about "The Contribution of Families and Madrassa in Improving Moral Quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang Kalirejo Kokap Kulon Progo Students". The objectives of this study are: 1) How families and madrassa improve the moral quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang students; 2) What is the contribution of families and madrassa in improving the moral quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang students; 3) What is the supporting factors and inhibiting factors that can improve the moral quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang students. This study aims to: 1) To find out how the families improve the moral quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang students; 2) To find out families and madrassa contributions in improving the moral quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang students; 3) To find out the supporting factors and inhibiting factors that can improve the moral quality of MI Ma'arif Plampang students. This research uses qualitative method of study, also for the research approach is descriptive qualitative. The methods of collecting the data of this research are primary research and secondary data research. Furthermore, observation, interviews, and documentation also used in collecting the data . The research instruments used were observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and documentation guidelines. For the discussion of the study, the author uses descriptive data analysis as a method to obtain conclusions. The results of the study show that: 1) The family's method to improve students' moral quality is by guiding children to pray diligently, speaking politely, treat each other with respect, choosing friends selectively, and obey their parents. Then, the madrassa’s method in improve students' moral quality is by delivering material on moral aqida subject. Additional material is memorizing recitation of prayers, short suras, and daily prayers. Short-term boarding school activities, break the fast together, collecting zakat fitra, and sacrificing animals for qurban festivities; 2) The contribution of the family in improving students' morals is that the family has to be: the comfortable place for students, the place to establish love, the place of socialization, the institution of the next generation, and the institution of faith formation. The contribution of the madrassa in improving the moral quality of students is that madrassa has to be the medium to transfer values, knowledge and skills to the students; 3) Factors supporting the improvement of students' moral quality in MI Ma'arif Plampang are family support, student’s eagerness to learn, learning methods and community support. Factors inhibiting the improvement of students 'moral quality are the economic level of the students' families which are classified as middle to lower and the parents’ level education mostly from elementary school education.
