Abstract

Students who were in the area of Yogyakarta is part of a different ethnicity groups in indigenous traditions, language or religion. They live in a society that is diffuse heterogeneous, then building a network of regional organization groups correspond to ethnicity who awoke upon zoning provinces in Indonesia. From the background, in terms of promoting diversity, have had some turmoil within multicultural entry, especially the potential friction between ethnicity are clear and sustainable. Its grass-roots often starts from the question egocentric that override the customs of local wisdom. So that conflicts between students as well as areas with indigenous communities ften occurs. The need for the values of multiculturalism into a separate method in conveying the idea of the difference in ethnicity and sovereignty of the nation unity. Conflict is indeed we cannot avoid, but capable of movement is minimised. Therefore the Organization of IKPMDI which is the container of the whole ethnicity group students in Yogyakarta took the role to provide education and understanding of the spirit multiculturalism to groups of ethnicity in Yogyakarta. Organizational communication into one way organizations develop messages of multiculturalism. IKPMDI that hosts groups of ethnicity did a strategic role in guarding against the creation of a student life tenets among the differences. This is evidenced through some agenda and activities conducted by the Organization, such as the cultural performances, cultural dialogue and so on. Organizational communication is awakened from various stages, ranging from the process, the message, the network, the State of interdependence, relationships, the environment, the uncertainties so that indicators of success in organizational communication measured properly. IKPMDI in clearly illustrates how organizations in the process was able to build a multicultural message of multiculturalism, where a State of mutual respect and agreement of the norm that is recognized to be one of the resulting output of the organization. Further some aspects of the creation of the message of multiculturalism is the selection of the right message in the build up of multiculturalism. So much output is produced, such as empathy, equality, solidarity, cultural achievements they all go on the intermingling of cultures. A good relationship between communicators and komunikan make the process flow of the messages of the organization created more maximum. There are also obstacles that occur in development communication oganisasi i.e. the limited space publications. Message only momentum has not been up to the grass roots, and patterns of communication to members of the leadership who are bogged down because the rank and age.
