Abstract

The problem of this research is formulated into the details of the research questions as follows: (1) how is the local content curriculum planning in MAN 1, MAN 2 and SMA Negeri 7 Plus of Bengkulu City?; (2) how is the implementation of the local content curriculum in those three schools?; and (3) how to evaluate the curriculum of local content in those three schools? This research is generally to get an overview of the planning, implementation and evaluation of local content curriculum in three schools in Bengkulu City, i.e., MAN 1, MAN 2 and SMA Negeri 7 Plus. Specifically, this study aims: 1) to get answers to how to plan local content curriculum for those three schools; 2) to get answers to how to implement the local content curriculum in those three schools; 3) and to get answers on how to evaluate local content curricula in those three schools. The Research Approach is Qualitative Research, while the research method used is the Formative Evaluation method which emphasizes the quality improvement feedback process, and summative evaluation which emphasizes the product and the effectiveness of program achievement, and evaluates the implementation process (Kidder; 1981). The location of the study is in three schools, i.e., MAN 1, MAN 2 and SMA Negeri 7 Plus in Bengkulu City. Collecting data is based on observations. Data analysis techniques used are qualitative data analysis techniques, while for testing the validity of the data, this research uses credibility, transferability, and dependability. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that: 1) the process of local content curriculum planning in three schools has a different mechanism. In MAN 1, planning is made based on the desire to be more advanced than other schools, and able to make changes and programming. Teacher Council meetings with student guardians are to determine local content materials, namely Applied Chemistry and Foreign Languages, as well as other materials such as deepening social sciences. In MAN 2, the planning process is by constantly thinking about the students' guardians when local content will become their burden, and there is a desire how the students will be interested in entering MAN 2, by choosing a skill agreed upon by the meeting participants consisting of Principals and Teacher Councils, i.e., composting. Lastly, the local content of SMA Negeri 7 Plus is based on the desire that the students‟ guardians feel comfortable leaving their children at this school, and wish that students have the ability of religion-based sciences, having been designed by the school through a teacher council meeting. 2) The implementation of the local content curriculum in MAN 1 runs according to planning, because it wants to find a format to be recognized and show identity as a school that has long been established. MAN 2 carries out local content with full pride and seriousness while SMA Negeri 7 Plus implements its local content as originally planned. 3) The evaluation of the implementation of the local content curriculum in MAN 1, MAN 2, and SMA Negeri 7 Plus in Bengkulu City shows that the planning process is only carried out by principals and teachers. On implementation it runs as planned.
