Abstract

This study aims to analyze the hadith commentary methodology applied by Abdul Shukur al-Azizi in his book “Hadith-Hadith of Science”, focusing on its meaning and scientific context. The background to the selection of this title is based on the importance of understanding how the Prophetic traditions related to science are explained through an interdisciplinary approach, combining traditional exegesis and modern scientific findings. This study is relevant because it shows the dynamics of contemporary hadith commentaries that are not only limited to analyzing the text but also relating it to scientific developments. The purpose of this study is to identify the method, approach, and style of the syarah used by Abdul Shukur al-Azizi, and analyze its relevance to modern science. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, where the main source is the book Hadith-Hadith Science, while supporting sources include Islamic literature, scientific journals, and related academic books. The analysis technique used is descriptive-analytic, reinforced with historical and multidisciplinary approaches. The results show that Abdul Shukur al-Azizi applies ijmālī (global) and mawḍū'ī (thematic) methods of commentary, incorporating linguistic, social, legal, and modern scientific approaches. The style of the commentary tends to be bi al-ra'yī (based on reasoning) and contextual, connecting the hadith text with contemporary scientific realities. The conclusion of this study reveals that al-Azizi's hadith commentary not only enriches religious understanding, but also broadens the horizons of the integration of hadith and science, demonstrating the relevance of the Prophet's teachings in various aspects of modern life.
