Abstract

This study aims to find out: (1) Results of cognitive learning of students in the learning process The Power of Two (TPT) and Think Pair Share (TPS). (2) Difference in cognitive learning outcomes in the TPT experimental class and TPS experimental class. (3) Effectiveness use of cooperative learning models between types The Power of Two and type Think Pair Share on student’s result cognitive learning. This research is a quasi-experimental study with the research design used is nonequivalent control group design. The variables in this study include the independent variables in the form of learning with the cooperative learning model type The Power of Two and the type of Think Pair Share and the dependent variable in the form of cognitive learning outcomes of students. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of Junior High School of Muhammadiyah Boarding School academic year 2018/2019. The sample that used in this study was class VIII F and class VIII G were selected by purposive sampling technique. The data collecting technique used is a test technique and the data analysis technique used is non parametric statistics, namely U test and Normalized Gain (N-Gain) test. The results showed that: (1) In The Power of Two and Think Pair Share learning process for cognitive learning result has increased, but the increase cognitive learning result of The Power of Two is still relatively low. While the increase in cognitive learning result for Think Pair Share in still relatively medium. (2) Result of U-test for the pretest as well as posttest scores indicate a value that which means that Ho is a accepted and Ha is rejected. So there is no difference in the learning result of TPT experimental students and TPS experimental classes. (3) Both models of cooperative learning have the same level of effectiveness in terms of the percentage of success or KKM, N-gain and posttest average.
