Abstract

Communication barriers that occur in the relocation of the traders of the Paingan Market in the City of Magelang between the Community and the Government are not easy to handle. Need an effective communication so that it can be accepted by the community and the government's goals the purpose of this study is to obtain an overview and identify communication and solution barriers in relation to the relocation of the Paingan Sunday Market by the Department of Industry and Trade of Magelang City. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques used through interviews and documentation. The validity of the data is done to resolve the degree of truth of the data carried out through triangulation. The results showed that the communication of the regional government represented by the Department of Industry and Trade of Magelang City used one direction so that information could not be carried out in addressing the event in the community and government. Constraints arising from the relocation event were caused, inter alia; use of communication tools, differences in thinking and prevailing cultural differences. Asking for feedback that arose from the problem was opposed to government policies in relocating traders. The solution that was born from a public hearing held by the government resulted in a structuring agreement that was still resolved by creating a community of traders to coordinate between the government and the community.
