Abstract

This research based on the background knowledge of parents who are still lacking about reward and punishment method. There are some responses that mention reward and punishment that reward is only material, while the punishment is violence that can hurt the physical and heart of the students. However, in RA DWP UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta the application of the method is very educating, the reward also various kinds and punishments not in the form of punishment but in the form of directives of advice that protect the physical and heart of the students. This research is based on the background of child passivity in participating in classes and the courage of children who are still lacking in activities. In response to this, educators apply the method of reward and punishment in their daily activities. Determination of research subjects using purposive sampling techniques with data collection methods namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and data verification or conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that in broad outline this reward and punishment method in the form of verbal and non verbal. Verbal or language forms include compliments such as you’re great, you’re top, good, smart, good job, words of motivation, advice, rebuke, light yells, high notes, and more. While the non verbal formis in the form of faial expressions, gestures, such us a nod of the head, thumbs up, shake your head, clap, smile, sour face, and so forth.reward and punishment method have supporting factors and inhibiting factors. Supporting factors include eduator or teachers, school infrastructure, peers, while, the factors are the inter-hindrance between family and child behavior. The advantages of this reward and punishment method include being able to increase independence, achievement, foster courage or confidence, increase the enthusiasm of the child at the time of learning, increase the activity of children to foster discipline and learn to queue, respect and help each other friends. While the lack of the reward and punishment method need extra energy and need extra time.
