Abstract

The role of communication is strongly important in an organization sustainability. An organization may not run as well as the vision without communication. An organization has a lot of elements which must interact one to another, for instance an organization leader, members and so on. Every leader has their own different communication style, and must be able to adjust the communication style in any situation and condition in leading an organization. This case is definitely important to be understood by every leader in leading their own organization. Because the communication style of a leader will be affected to each organization member’s motivation. This research aims to find out The Communication Style of Gerakan Pemuda Melawan Korupsi (GPMK) Yogyakarta Leader in its attemption to increasing their member’s motivation. This research used a qualitative-descriptive method by collecting the data which insisted of interview, observation and documentation. The grand-theory which used in this research referred to six styles of communication of Stewart L. Tubbs and Sylvia Moss, which is the Controlling Communication style, Equalitarian Style, Structuring style, Synamic style, Relinquishing style, and Withdrawal style. Furthemore its elaborated with the attemption to increasing the member’s motivation which insisted of respect, information, behavior, punishment, command, and sense. The research results showed there were two styles of communication to which more dominantly adjusted by Ansari as the leader of GPMK itself was Equilitarian Style Communication and Dynamic Style with one more communication style which sometimes also being adjusted was Structuring Communication Style. It followed by attemptions increased the member’s motivation which insisted of respect, information, behavior, punishment, command and sense.
