Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out which factors influence the area of agricultural land use in Central Java. This becomes important because the agricultural sector is a strategic sector, plays an important role for the economy and makes a big contribution to employment. This study uses per capita expenditure, total population, number of poor, number of industries and level of education as independent variables. By using data from the Central Statistical Office, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant government agencies. This study was conducted using panel data in 29 districts and 9 cities in Central Java over a period from 2015 to 2017. The analysis tool used was the regression of panel data using the software and views 10. From the research results the per capita expenditure and the number of poor were carried out. negative effects on the agricultural area, while the population, the number of industries and the level of education have a positive effect on the agricultural area. Only variable expenditure per capita and level of education has proven to be significant. The variable population, the poor population and the number of industries were insignificant. The descriptive analysis shows that the agricultural area in Central Java remains constant from year to year (constant).
