Abstract

The background of this study is that violence between students is rife, both inside and outside the school environment, this can be due to disruption of children's mental health or cause mental health disorders in children. Disorders of the child's psychic / mental health will affect the child's learning achievement, capture and memory will decrease, doubt and anxiety always engulf the child. Therefore, mental health in schools must be upheld. SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan is one of the schools in Sleman Regency that implements mental health training for students through the Mental Health School program. The application is the first step to reduce cases of mental health disorders in the community early on. This study aims to describe the mental health development of students through the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) in SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan and examine the Islamic Religious Education perspective on the mental health development of students through the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) at SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan. This research is a qualitative study, taking the background of SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan. Data collection is done by observation, interviews, and documentation. The method of data analysis uses the Psychological Approach to Mental Health and Islamic Education, by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing data conclusions. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and triangulation techniques. The results showed: (1) Mentoring students' mental health through the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) at SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan including preparation, detection and examination of mental health, as well as coaching and providing follow-up to students indicated mental health disorders. The results of mental health development to 28 students showed an increase in mental health of students, this was indicated by changes in student behavior both in terms of prosocial aspects, emotional symptoms, behavioral problems, hyperactivity, and relationships with peers. (2) Islamic Religious Education Perspectives on fostering mental health of students through the Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) at SMP Negeri 1 Seyegan are: able to adapt to the social environment, have noble character, are willing to accept advice and direction, and have a love of the afterlife and piety to Allah SWT and His Messenger.
