Abstract

his research is motivated because local languages are not used in everyday conversation by the younger generation, they prefer to use Indonesian even some are already using foreign languages in communication, parents are no longer accustoming their children to use regional languages as everyday language in in the family environment, so it is not surprising that many young people do not understand the local language. Departing from these problems, the government, in particular the DIY government, established policies in an effort to maintain, preserve culture, especially the regional languages in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, where students at primary and secondary levels of education were given Javanese subjects as compulsory local content. This was arranged in DIY regulation No. 64 of 2013 concerning Javanese subjects as compulsory local content in schools. The destination of this research is to knowing about fungtion of Javanese language studying from two sides: 1) purpose and fungsion from Javanese language 2) realization of Javanese language. 3) Implementation of Javanese language learning policies. The type of this research is an evaluation study using a qualitative approach. The data sources are primary data: school principals, Jaw language teachers and fourth grade students, secondary data: syllabus, lesson plan (RPP), student data, and other supporting data. The technique of collecting data are interview, observation, and documents collection. Codification, presentation, and withdrawal of conclusions or verifications. This research used a triangulation technique for checking the validity of the findings. There are three conclusion from this research: 1) the direction or purpose and function of learning Javanese language class IV in MI Plus Al-kautsar doesn’t going well as a DIY governor regulation xi number 64 of 2013. 2) the implementation of class IV Javanese language learning in MI Plus Al-kautsar for its curriculum has followed the 2013 curriculum. while for the evaluation or assessment of learning she only uses written assessment technique. 3) The four indicators conclude that the implementation of the Javanese language learning policy in MI plus al-kautsar is already running but there needs to be some improvements such as improved communication and evaluation from the Ministry of Religion in Sleman.
