Abstract

This research aims to explain how the symbolic inteaction of Ikatan Mahasiswa Bata-Bata (IMABA ) Yogyakarta members in interpreteting “Mahasiswa Santri”. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected using observation, in-depth interview and ducomentation. The chek validity of data, the reasercher uses triangulations of sources. The result shows that IMABA Yogyakarta members interpreted “Mahasiswa Santri” as a pattern of intraction among pesantren alumni studens who were intertwined between one individual and another individual and remaind in the values of the islamic boarding school in terms of behavior and daily activities. Elements of pesantren interaction include how to communicate, how to dress, and how to behave. The interaction that exists with the surrounding environment, as well another organizations that have relations with IMABA Yogyakarta and also the campus environment where members study.
