Abstract

This study, entitled the development of librarian competencies in the era of disruption in the library of the Atma Jaya University in Yogyakarta, has the aim to describe how the competence of librarians in the era of disruption. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques are done by observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, data verification, data validity test, using the test of credibility, dependability and confirmability. The results of the study are; (1) Librarian competency standards in the Atma University Library in Yogyakarta namely; Professional competence and personal competence (2) Librarian competence at the Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta Library in the era of disruption, namely following the times, following the advancement of science and technology, winning competition and anticipating free trade and increasing librarian professionalism. (3) Development of librarian competence in the era of disruption in the Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta Library, namely; technical capability development in the form of strengthening ICT, developing theoretical capabilities in the form of strengthening human resources, developing conceptual abilities in the form of priority programs and developing moral capabilities in the form of organizational support. (4) Obstacles in developing librarian competencies in the era of disruption in the Atma Jaya University Library in Yogyakarta. The first obstacle is; not all librarians in the Atma Jaya University Library Yogyakarta come from librarians, the second obstacle is to create more advanced library services, the budget is also greater, the third obstacle, the negative impact of the era of disruption in the Atma Jaya University Library, Yogyakarta, namely information exploitation, namely flood of information, and the fourth obstacle at the Atma Jaya University Library in Yogyakarta is the difficulty in distributing speakers in literacy. Suggestions are expected that librarians at the Atma Jaya University Library in Yogyakarta maintain to comply with the national standard rules of librarian competence so that they are not obsolete, delayed and replaced by the era of disruption. librarians at the Atma Jaya University Library in Yogyakarta should continue to innovate and continue to develop themselves to meet the librarian's competency targets so as not to be outdated or disrupted by the 4.0 revolution era. It is expected that librarians at the Atma Jaya University Library in Yogyakarta can continue to develop themselves to always learn, be up to date, learn new things so that they can continue to develop their competencies so they are not distorted. Librarians in Yogyakarta Atma Jaya University Library are expected to remain biased in facing obstacles that arise in developing librarian competencies in the current era of disruption.
