Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of several educational issues concerning students who are not focused in the learning process, as well as forms of behavior that deviate from the teachings of from the teachings of Islamic religious values. So to solve the problems that accur, many schools take action to evercome these problems. One example is issuing policies to anticipate existing problems, such as gender-based class segregation policies that have been implemented at SD Muhammadiyah Karangbendo Yogyakarta since 2009 until now. In its implementation, Karangbendo Muhammadiyah Elementary School meets the indikators of school policy implemnetation, therefore researchers conduct further research in Muhammadiyah Karangbendo Elementary School in Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study was to determine gender based class segregation in instilling Islamic religious values. This research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah Karangbendo, Banguntapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This study uses a qualitative method. The data sources in this study are: 9 subjects as primary data, deputy principal, VA class guardian, class VB guardian, male pasticipant 3, and female participant 3, and related documents as supporting data. Data collection techniques are observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. While data analysis techniques are carried aout, namely through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Data were analyzed using data triangulation data validity test. The results of this study indicate that: 1). The concept of gender-based class segregation at Muhammadiyah Karangbendo Elementary School in Yogyakarta is pre-policy implementation of the policy, with the policy concept being issued by the school principal and confirmed with all teachers and student guardians. In the implementation of this policy aims to improve learning achievement, limit the interaction of male and female students, habituating religious values well. In evaluating this policy the school had stopped this policy due to inadequate school facilities and the number of children who were not balanced, 2). The implementation of gender-based class segregation in instilling Islamic religious values is carried out in the classroom and outside school hours. At school hours do routine learning and religious activities while still separating students, by always giving direction, advice and good example such as maintaining excessive interaction with the opposite sex. 3). The effectiveness of gender-based class segregation in instilling Islamic religion values is by way of coaching, habituation, direction, reprimand, adherence instilled in students, this has shown achievement of the desired goals, as well as with good adaptation in school segregation class policies based on gender, then forming male and female students in accordance with the character of religious values.
