Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the motivation and causes of obedience of Abdi Dalem Karay Ngayogyakarta Palace, to know the effect of religious guidance in the Ngayogyakarta Palace, and to find out the Abdi Dalem Karay Ngayogyakarta Karaton Ability pattern. This research uses the type of field research (Field Research), and the approach used is descriptive qualitative analysis, which is one of the research methods whose aim is to get an understanding of reality with inductive thinking processes. The method used is the technique of snowball sampling and purposive sampling. Data collection techniques using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study are as follows: (1) motivation and causes of obedience of the servants of the palace to the kingdom that wants to find peace and feel peace, wants to find blessing and feel blessed, wants to maintain self-identity and preservation of culture, get the land of magersari, and continue the tradition of parents ; (2) the influence of religious servants in the Sultanate of Ngayogyakarta that is for all servants in the palace there is no special program in religious guidance, but religious guidance is only for the servants of the palace to study them they are usually called servants in court or Pamethak, they are tasked with reviving the mosque in the palace . For the courtiers not only get an explanation related to oral material, but also with practice. Through the material and practice of courtiers including the category of obedience to the palace and form a devout attitude, both physically and mentally. By birth polite attitude, code of conduct and obedient form are taught through the symbols that they use every day such as worship, how to walk, talk and dress and inwardly form a human who has a soul of a knight and full of concentration in every problem (Nyawiji) also has a firm stance in defending its truth (sengguh), and having a strong will to carry out its work seriously, high-spirited (greget) and not straying right and left but straight not tempted by cases if you already have confidence in the truth; (3) patterns of obedience of the courtiers, namely personal obedience, social obedience, and obedience to rules. Of the three patterns can be taken an important element that is exemplary a servant of the palace. Behavior of courtiers that we can see is through the symbols that they use every day, and it is in the spotlight by the public, both when the servants are in the palace or outside the palace.
