Abstract

Inflation is a phenomenon that cannot be excluded in macroeconomics. Inflation is an important indicator in managing a country's economy the fluctuation of prices in a country are also a result of inflation rate. Inflation rate can cause a country's economic turmoil. One of the roles of the government in the economy is to for maintance inflation stable. Stable inflation will impact on sustainable economic growth which will ultimately benefit the welfare of society. This research aims to analyze the impact of American inflation, world oil prices, the money supply and gross domestic product on Indonesian inflation rate. This study uses quarterly data over the period 1997-2018. This research methodologically used quantitative methods using secondary data sourced from Bank Indonesia, the International Monetary Fund, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The analytical tool used in this research is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). This research shows American inflation and the money supply have a positive significant on Indonesian inflation in the short term. While world oil prices and gross domestic product do not significantly influence Indonesian inflation. In the long run, US inflation, world oil prices and gross domestic product have a significant positive impact on Indonesian inflation. While gross domestic product has a significant negative impact on Indonesian inflation.
