Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the decision of Muslim communities to choose entrepreneurship and to find out whether natural disasters are opportunities for people who choose to start entrepreneurship or open businesses after natural disasters in Palu City. There are seven factors that become the variables used in this study, namely the family environment, social and social environment, knowledge, capital, self-efficacy, the level of religiosity, and Islamic business ethics. The method of analysis in research uses quantitative methods with the type of descriptive research. This research is aimed at the Muslim community in the city of Palu, which is opening a business or entrepreneurship after a natural disaster. With respondents selected as many as 100 respondents. For data collection is done by giving a questionnaire that uses a 5-point Likert scale. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis in SPSS 22.0. The results showed that partially social and social environment variables, Islamic capital and business ethics had a positive and significant effect while for family environment variables, knowledge, self-efficacy and level of religiosity did not significantly influence entrepreneurial decisions. Then simultaneously the seven variables have a positive and significant effect with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.485 or 48.5%, which means the seven variables are able to influence entrepreneurial decisions by 48.5% while 0.521 or 52.1% are influenced by other factors in the flow this research. Besides that, from the results of the additional questions, most of the respondents' answers stated clearly that the post-disaster situation gave them the opportunity and encouragement to get up and choose to open a business (entrepreneurship) for the economic recovery of the people of Palu City after natural disasters.
