Abstract
The verses in the al-Qur'an are so varied. Starting from declarative sentences (kalam khabar), interrogative sentences (kalam istifham), and imperative sentences (kalam amr). In this study, the authors focused only on imperative sentences. The imperative entity that is raised is an imperative contained in the surah al-'Alaq..Research using the material object of the surah al-'Alaq has been done a lot. Apart from the majority of the opinion that this letter is the first revelation to come down, the words that are arranged in the verse have content that can be material for discussion and discussion that will not be obsolete by the times. Surah al-'Alaq has 19 verses, but this research focuses on imperative sentences 1-5 only. Using the library research method, research results were obtained from the results of sociopragmatic analysis. Sociopragmatic study is a combination of sociolinguistics and pragmatics. So that in studying imperatives in the letter al-'Alaq, besides involving the structure of the language structure, it also involves social and pragmatic elements in it. Grammatically, the verb or fi'il used is fi'il muta'addi. The form of the imperative structure used is imperative or al Amr with its true meaning with a force function, a mandatory function, and a command function. Meanwhile, sociopragmatically, the imperative entity in the surah al-'Alaq is an adaptive sentence adjusting the social conditions of society when this surah was sent down.
