Abstract
The collection of zakat fund, through zakat institutions, grew sharply in Indonesia for the last few years. This fast augmented of rate lucidly has come along with the robust performance of its management. Recently, there is a lot of new related institutions built, with the further akin vision, they endeavour to collect zakat fund and distributed back for the needy (mustahik). However, the zakat fund raised is still has a massive gap from its optimum, and the distribution approach conducted is not going well as it’s expected in reality. This study aims to analyze of efficiency rate of Zakat National Board (BAZNAS) of East Java Province over the periods 2015-2018. The method used is a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based on the production approach. Based on the results of research that has been carried out with the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, it is found that BAZNAS in the province of East Java in 2016 and 2018 experienced inefficiency with a score of 97.04% and 9.5%. In 2015 and 2017, they are considered efficient in their performance with an efficiency score of 1/100. The factors that affect the efficiency or not are found in the input and output variables, the input variable is the total operational cost asset burden, the output variable, the receipt of zakat funds and the distribution of zakat funds.
