Abstract

Bullying brings negative effects on its victim. Several studies have suggested that the greatest effect is the deacrease in self esteem of the victim. Previous studies have found that low self esteem are the main factor that leads to poor performance in school student both achievement and behavior. Therefore, therapy is required to increase the self esteem of victim of bullying. This study aims to see the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy to increase self esteem in victim of bullying at SMA “X” Yogyakarta. The design in this research is quantitative with One Group Pre Test Post Test. The number of respondents in this study were 5 students who were included in the experimental group. The instrument of self esteem uses Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale which has aspects of self acceptance and self respect. The hypothesis results using SPSS in the form of non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank analysis, to test the difference in scores between pretest-posttest and pretest-follow-up in the experimental group. The result of data analysis in the experimental group shows that there was a significant difference with a p value of 0.041 (p<0.05). Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concuded that cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in increasing the self esteem of bullying victim.
