Abstract

This study aims to explain the role of youth in encouraging development in the village through participation carried out by Karang Taruna Prajamoeda. The researcher used a qualitative approach with interviews, documentation, and observation. In this study, it identifies how the role of youth in encouraging welfare at the village level. The results of the study show that participation carried out by youth in the village is able to develop village potential through their abilities such as leadership, business, agriculture, and economy. These abilities can be seen through Karang Taruna Prajamoeda programs such as celebrating big days, social services, children's education, youth gardens, and youth business units. This is formed through joint participation with parties outside Karang Taruna so that the activities carried out are based on the involvement of all parties so that these activities can be sustainable. In addition, youth participation in the development process is able to encourage community participation so as to produce a generation that cares about their village. Then, the economy is slightly helped by the existence of promotional media, the formation of tourist villages, and youth gardens. On the other hand, this study also examines the weaknesses of youth participation who have challenges such as an unstable economy to manage or hold activities, age is a challenge in itself because youth have other activities outside the organization. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of youth participation in the village as a key actor in driving sustainable development in the village.
