Abstract

Drug abuse is one of several problems that often arise in society. Drug addicts are mosly ostracized and given social sanctions because they are considered to have a negative impact. Many of the drug users received unpleasant treatment and ridicule from the surrounding community. Most drug users are not well received by the community, they are considered a public disease so many of them are ostracized and become gossip material. Seeing the phenomenon is different from the phenomenon that occurred in Pakualaman. in Pakualaman drug users are well received and treated the same as other communities. The general objective of this research is to understand the interpersonal communication of drug users and society in social interactions. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by conducting inverviews and documentation. The results of the study concluded that interpersonal communication of drug users and society in social interactions can be shown by in several indicators, namely: openness, empathy, support, a sense of positivity and equality. The five indicators above each have a great influence on the occurrence of social interaction between drug users and the community, which is shown by the existence of good realitionships, achieving common goals, and establishing good realitionships according to functions in the structure.
