Abstract

his study aims to determine: (1) Whether the type of cooperative learning model NHT (Numbered Heads Together) affects the efforts to improve students’ learning outcomes in their cognitive domain. (2) Whether the type of cooperative learning model NHT (Numbered Heads Together) influences an effort to improve student learning outcomes in the affective domain of students. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with the nonequivalent control group research design. The variables in this study include learning independent variable with the NHT (Numbered Heads Together) model and the dependent variables which are cognitive and affective learning outcomes. The population in this study was all students of X MIPA 1 as a control class and X MIPA 2 as an experimental class. The techniques of collecting data used were test and non-test techniques, with instruments in the form of pretest-posttest question sheets and affective questionnaire sheets. The cognitive data analysis technique used was descriptive statistics accompanied by Normalized N-Gain and Effect Size. The analysis of affective assessment data were obtained from the percentage of affective learning achievement outcomes. The results showed that (1) Learning with the NHT (numbered heads together) type model influences the increase of students' cognitive learning outcomes with an NGain value of 0.64 with a moderate classification in the experimental class and 0.34 with a moderate classification in the control class, and an effect size of 1.18 which is a high criterion. The average cognitive learning outcome is 73.12 in the experimental class and 49.03 in the control class. (2) Learning with the NHT (Numbered Heads Together) model influences the increase of students' affective learning outcomes in the experimental class with the percentage of affective learning outcomes that is 79.54% in the aspect of acceptance, 76.51% in the aspect of participation, 82.38% in the aspect of appreciation, and 81.81% in the aspect of willingness, while the control class is 75.18% in the aspect of acceptance, 68.75% in the aspect of participation, 73.89% in the aspect of appreciation, and 70.96% in the aspect of willingness.
