Abstract

This research aims to know if there is a relation betweenFuture Orientation and Parents’ Social Support to student Career Maturity at SMK in Cilacap. Career maturity is defined as ones’s success to identify, select, and decide upon future related plan in accordance to their career development stages. Students with high career maturity will be more competitive in the labor market. The subject in this research was 269 students from Boedi Oetomo Cilacap Vocational High School by using cluster random sampling technique. The data was collected by using the scale of Career Maturity with the alpha coefficient of 0.962, the scale of Future Orientation with the alpha coefficient of 0.922 and the scale of Parents’ Social Support with the alpha coefficient of 0.951. The statistical analysis technique used in this research is the multiple linear regression analysis and the independent sample t-test. The result shows that there is a positive impact between future orientation and parents’ social support to student career maturity with the significancy rate of 0,000 (P<0,05). The Future Orientation and the Parents’ Social Support simultaneously provides effective contribution to Career Maturity of 0,83%. Future Orientation provides effective contribution to Career Maturity approximately 0.82%. Parents’ Social Support gives effective contribution to Career Maturity approximately 0.10%. Likewise analytical result shows that there is a differentiation of Career Maturity degree if assessed by gender.
