Abstract
Food commodities are one of the major contributors to inflation in Indonesia. This is because the prices of food commodities often fluctuate in years, months, even days. This research was conducted to determine the effect of fluctuations in eight food commodity prices that contributed to inflation, namely corn, soybeans, sugar, cooking oil, shallots, beef, purebred chicken and eggs on inflation in Bandung. The data used in this study are the period from January 2013 to December 2019. The analysis method uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results showed that in the long run the price of soybeans, the price of cooking oil, and the price of chicken meat had a significant positive effect on inflation. Meanwhile, the price of shallots and the price of eggs had a significant negative effect on inflation. Meanwhile, maize and beef prices have a negative but insignificant effect on inflation. Meanwhile, the price of sugar has a positive effect on inflation, but not significantly.
