Abstract

This research discusses the model of preserving Javanese manuscripts as cultural heritage in Tembi Rumah Budaya. This study aims to determine the Javanese Manuscripts Preservation Model as a Cultural Heritage in Tembi Rumah Budaya. This research was conducted at the Tembi Rumah Budaya Library using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques used are interviews, documentation, and observation. Data analysis was based on Miles and Huberman's theory, namely data reduction, second data presentation, and third drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data using the credibility test, namely by triangulation of subjects and triangulation of sources. The results of this study concluded that the Javanese manuscripts preservation model as a cultural heritage used by the Tembi Rumah Budaya Library forms a preservation pyramid. The preservation pyramid consists of three levels, namely preventive or preventive measures, handling or curation actions, and corrective or restoration actions. The level in this preservation pyramid shows the portion or number of actions taken by the Tembi library in carrying out preservation. Obstacles faced by the Tembi library are the lack of sufficient time to take preservation actions, especially in the transliteration process, the library space is not wide enough so that it hinders the space to take preservation actions, and the destructive factors of manuscripts that continue to exist even though the library has taken preventive action. Researchers suggest the Tembi Rumah Budaya Library to make a preservation policy in writing and carry out simple digitization activities.
