Abstract

This thesis discusses distributive justice in the process of procurement collections at the Kwik Kian Gie Institute of Business and Informatics Library. The objectives of this study are 1) To determine distributive justice in the process of procurement collections at the Kwik Kian Gie Institute of Business and Informatics Library; 2) Seeing and analyzing the considerations of the Kwik Kian Gie Institute of Business and Informatics Library in determining the priority collections; 3) Knowing the efforts of the Kwik Kian Gie Institute of Business and Informatics Library in obtaining collections. This study uses qualitative methods by analyzing data starting from data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Through a theoretical and methodological approach, the researchers found that 1) Distributive justice in the collection procurement process shows the cooperation between various parties in formulating policies, the parties in the analysis of reading material needs have the same freedom, the parties get the opportunity or opportunity to obtain reading materials in the selection process although equality is still not considered, the acquisition process has made various efforts to procure the required reading material although some weaknesses that make inequality can occur. 2) The consideration of the library in determining the main priority was found that the collection standard was still fixated on the need for the teaching and learning process and did not pay attention to the tastes of the readers. This causes in the process of needs analysis, selection and acquisition to prioritize certain parties only and potential parties have not received attention; 3) The efforts of the library in procuring collections use the approach of purchasing, grants or donations, and collaboration between libraries. This finding shows that distributive justice in the collection procurement process still does not consider equality for the parties served.
