Abstract

Halal tourism is tourism that is based on Islamic concepts, involving the belief of the Muslim community to maintain their religious obligations through travel. This study seeks to determine the direction of the strategy for developing halal tourism in Kuta Mandalika, Central Lombok Regency. The method used in this research is qualitative by using a descriptive approach with the strengthening of SWOT in determining the strategy. The results show that the right strategy to use is: developing a halal tourism destination program, developing a halal tourism marketing program, developing a halal tourism institution or governance and developing a halal tourism industry program. Implementation of the strategic direction for the development of halal tourism in Kuta Mandalika based on SWOT such as: exploring the potential for natural and artificial tourism in the Kuta Mandalika Lombok area by arranging tourist objects and empowering the community to develop artificial tourism in the Kuta Mandalika Lombok area such as developing activities business, culinary, crafts and arts. Collaborating with the halal certificate body MUI and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) to certify halal products to provide assurance for Muslim tourists to enjoy tourism in the Kuta Mandalika area of Lombok. Promoting halal tourism through various social media and exhibitions both at the national and international levels on an ongoing basis, by carrying out strong promotions to introduce tourist objects in the Kuta Mandalika Lombok area, with a strong promotion carried out by the Tourism Office can increase the interest of tourists visiting the Kuta Mandalika Lombok area, will continue to experience significant development and improvement. Maximizing the development of halal tourism in the Kuta Mandalika Lombok area in increasing the Regional Original Revenue (PAD) of Central Lombok Regency through hotel taxes, restaurant taxes, cafe taxes, entrance fees, parking in the Kuta Mandalika Lombok area can be managed properly.
