Abstract

Parenting is all activities related to children to optimize child development. Raising children is not an easy task, so many parent have difficulty disciplining their children. Not all parents respond appropriately to children so that temper tantrums develop in children. This research to understand parenting in children of temper tantrum problems. The research method uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. Informants in this research are 2 parents have children of temper tantrum problems. Data collection methods used were interviews and observation. The techniques analysis using the process of data reduction, data coding, data categorization, and drawing conclusions or verification. The result showed the process of parenting in two informants using methods is provide rules in directing children’s behavior, father and mother communication to children in parenting, direct and respond to children’s behavior, the role of father, mother and family in parenting and show concern for the child. The factors that influence parenting are internal and external factors. Internal factors are the informant’s emotional condition, understanding the stages child development and the child’s expectations. while, external factors are the parenting experienced by informants, parenting experience, children’s responses and job.
