Abstract

The research aims to determine the relations of intensity of communication and parent- child attachment with emotional intelligence late teens in SMK X Yogyakarta. The study subjects are 61 (N = 61) late teens in SMK X Yogyakarta. The measuring instrument used is the communication intensity scale based on the aspects disclosed by Devito (2009). The parent-child attachment scale uses the attachment scale based on the aspects disclosed by Armsden and Greenberg (1987). The emotional intelligence scale uses the emotional intelligence scale based on the aspects disclosed by Goleman (2002). The research method used is quantitative correlational. The data is analyzed by using multiple regression analysis. The result shows that the hypothesis is accepted. The results of multiple regression analysis showed F = 39,786 with p = 0,00, there is a positive relationship between intensity of communication and parent- child attachment with emotional intelligence late teens in SMK X Yogyakarta. The results of partial cirrelation analysis were; (1) the was positive correlation between intensity of communication with emotional intelligence late teens in SMK X Yogyakarta (r partial = 0,396, with p = 0,001) and (2) there was positive correlation between parent- child attachment with emotional intelligence late teens in SMK X Yogyakarta (r partial = 0,441 with p = 0,000). Intensity of communication can effect emotional intelligence in the amountof 47%, parent- child attachment can effect emotional intelligence in the amountof 11 %, and intensity of communication and parent- child attachment can effect emotional intelligence in the amountof 58%.
