Abstract

This study aims to explore and understand the phenomenon of subjective well being of women who were forced early marriage due to a culture of nolak sangkal. There are two informants in this study with the category of having a history of forced early marriage because of the culture nolak sangkal. The research method used a qualitative method with a phenomenological study approach. The data collection in this study is using observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that women who experience forced early marriage due to a cultural background of nolak sangkal have life satisfaction or subjective well being and at this stage of life the informants feel the absence of negative affects and feel more positive effects than in the initial phase of marriage. The factors that affect the subjective well being of women who marry early forcibly because the culture of nolak sangkal is a support system in the form of a private family and a family of in-laws who really love them. While the meaning of the research informants is about patience, sincerity, strength, and belief in life, other meanings are also related to obedience to both parents.
