Abstract

Instagram is a social media that is widely used by people nowadays. Instagram can be used as a vehicle for waste reduction campaigns. One account that utilizes this is @zerowaste.id_official which is one of the communities in the field of plastic waste reduction movement. Motivated by the low awareness of plastic waste management in Indonesia and it’s impact on enviromental problems, this research aims to measure the effectiveness of @zerowaste.id_official in raising awareness of plastic waste free behavior with EPIC Model method. This research uses quantitative methods and the theory used is Enviromental Communication Theory. Researchers used Direct Message features to distributed questionnaires to 100 respondents. The EPIC rate results obtained are 4,26. Thus, it can be concluded that @zerowaste.id_official Instagram account is considered very effective in raising awareness of plastic waste free behavior.
