Abstract

This thesis takes the title "The Role of Nahwu in Islamic Studies". Arabic is an integral component in the journey of Islam. The importance of research is carried out in the re-centering of Arabic discourse, especially Nahwu as the language of knowledge in Islamic studies. Because in its historical trajectory, Nahwu has become one of the components that has participated in enlivening the excitement of Islamic civilization along with other scientific discourses. The focus of discussion in this study is to find out how the origins and history of Nahwu's development. Next look at the role of nahwu in Islamic studies. Finally, this research discusses the future challenges of Nahwu. From the type, this research is a type of literature study with a historical approach. In this study, the authors used the theory of history of thought to reveal how the history of Nahwu and the role of Nahwu in Islamic studies. The results of this study indicate that the role of Nahwu in Islamic studies has a very significant role. In the science of Akhlak - Tasawuf, there are many Nahwu theories that explain moral teachings such as fi'il mudhari and mubtada 'theories. In Jurisprudence, the Qiyas method is one of the methods adopted by Jurisprudence in Istinbath in addition to other Nahwu theories that play a role in the process of interpreting the Jurisprudence text. Some of the challenges faced by Nahwu in the future are the monodisciplinary shadow of Nahwu if Nahwu walks arrogantly in the scientific landscape and the emergence of conflicts caused by differences in other schools of disciplines from each Nahwu figure.
