Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to reveal the tetesan culture: indigenization and literacy of the people of the Yogyakarta Palace and its surroundings. The tetesan culture in women in the Yogyakarta Palace has long been carried out, known as a life cycle ceremony in Javanese culture. Along with the times, people began to leave the tetesan culture due to modernity so that there was a shift in the context of the process. Most people Keraton Yogyakarta and surrounding implement procession tetesan merely meet sound manners amid society. On the other hand, the level of education of women is developing along with discourse developments in Indonesia is like a feminist discourse that encourages gender mainstreaming. The feminist groups do a reinterpretation of classic texts by the spirit of the women were related to acts of sexual violence. On the side of the power relation Sultan Palace, the representation authority of female palace that the massive entry into traditional structures such as Keraton boosting power relations in the framework of negotiations that female circumcision is done with the symbolic. This type of research used in this paper is a type of qualitative research, using a phenomenological design based on the phenomenon that occurs in the Yogyakarta Palace where people leave the tetesan culture. The research location was taken in the Palace Yogyakarta community and its surroundings. While the object and the subject of research in writing this is the society Palace Yogyakarta and culture tetesan in children of women. The research method used in this writing is the method of observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Then, in the writing of this, domain analysis of the data using the reduction of data, presentation of data, and verification. The data validity test in this paper uses thedata credibility test using triangulation. The use of theory in this writing is Michel Foucault's theory of power relations, a theory based on the social movement of Olson and his followers, a paradigm based on the orientation of the power of knowledge of the authority of the Yogyakarta Palace women in empowering the tetesan culture amid people's lives. Relations power that is a form of reinterpretation authority of women Palace Yogyakarta negotiate with the aspirations of the new that is brought by the discourse of development. The findings in this paper are the power relation of the female authority in the Yogyakarta Palace which forms new cooperation in re-earthing the tetesan culture in girls in a symbolic way. This form of cooperation can be seen from the aspects of literacy and indigenization of society which revitalize the culture of tetesan from the downstream sector to the upstream sector.
