Abstract

Diversity is a necessity created by God so that humans respond with mutual respect and cooperation. In the Indonesian context, the management of this diversity is carried out by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI) through a religious moderation program, namely by reviving Wasathiyah Islamic Values (NISWA). Along with the changes that occur, there are actions that injure the harmony of life in diversity, which also spread to the world of education, marked by many intolerant actions in schools and madrasas. Departing from this, the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subject taught in madrasas has a responsibility to play a role in overcoming these problems through the development of NISWA contained in the Student Book for SKI subjects. This study aims to: 1) Identify and explain NISWA on the theme of Islam Nusantara in the Student Book of SKI Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTS) published by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia in 2015 and 2020. 2) Explain the similarities and differences between the two Student Books in the context of developing NISWA on the theme Nusantara Islam. 3) Explain the factors that cause the differences between the two Student Books in the context of developing NISWA on the theme of Islam Nusantara. This research is library research, namely research that takes data sources from library data collection. This study uses a descriptive-philosophical approach where the process of elaboration and explanation of data is obtained from sentences accompanied by data excerpts and by using analyticalcritical philosophical thinking in solving problems. The data sources for this research are divided into primary sources, namely the Class IX MTS Level SKI Student Books published by the Ministry of Religion in 2015 and 2020 and secondary sources, namely the Class IX MTS Level SKI Student Books published by other publishers. The data collection technique is through the documentation method. The data analysis technique is content analysis, namely by digging NISWA based on written sources contained in the material in the two SKI Student Books. The results of this study indicate: 1) There are NISWA on the theme of Islam Nusantara in the Class IX SKI Student Books at the MTS Level Published in 2015 and 2020, in each book a total of 13 NISWA which includes Tawassuth, I'tidal, Tasamuh, Shura, Ishlah, Qudwah, Muwathanah, Tawazun, Musawah, Aulawiyah, Tahadhur, Tahthawwur and Ibtikar. 2) There are similarities and differences in the two Student Books in the context of NISWA on the theme of Islam Nusantara. The similarities can be seen in 5 things, namely the similarity of quantity and type of NISWA, the similarity of the quantity of several NISWAs that correspond one by one, the spirit of dynamics and creativity through the development of Tathawwur and Ibtikar values, the consistency of NISWA development through a cultural approach as one of the characteristics of Islam Nusantara contained in each chapters and materials in the two Student Books and the selection of figures in the learning materials. The difference is seen in the total quantity of NISWA developed and the focus of NISWA development in each chapter. 3) The factors that cause differences in the development of NISWA in the two Student Books include the Direction of the Foundation Paradigm, Reference Sources and the Islamic Nusantara Distinction in the form of material about Islamic boarding schools which are only found in the 2020 MTS Level SKI Student Book, published in 2020. This study also finds important things that: 1) Islam as a divine doctrine when it is preached cannot be separated from friction with culture which has implications for the heterogeneity of the face of Islam between one region and another. 2) Islam Nusantara as one of the distinctive religious methodologies of Indonesia has opened a discourse of understanding that Islam in its religious practice is not something homogeneous. At the practical level, the idealistic values of Islamic teachings must be able to deal with realistic conditions where changes from the social and cultural side are a necessity. 3) NISWA as part of Islamic teachings will be able to function optimally if it is built on a cultural infrastructure that has strong traditional roots, both socially and historically
